Foals - Total Life Forever (repost of a repost)

Forget the horror here.
Foals second album, total life forever, is fucking gorgeous. They have an obsession with the sea, and something probably broke yannis' heart or something, I don't really know, but this whole album is very melancholy, sad, and sort of broken. Beautiful, 10/10 album, very calming, and with wonderful british accents and sad, softly sung beautifully high falsettos. Moving tracks, full of emotion, wonder, and all sorts of things like sorrow and ice. If you want an adventure (a sad one, but with high parts) then get this. It's like mathrock (Antidotes) meets Post-rock (if I had to pick a postrock band for antidotes to have met, dated, fallen in love, and had a baby with, it'd probably be The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, or maybe Far From Refuge). Soft and lovely, with all sorts of pretty sounds that will make you shiver in all the right ways. It's like sitting on the beach when it's fucking freezing and the wind's running through your hair and maybe you get dumped or something. Or you're just having a really bad day. Or you're sitting on said beach remembering your ex or somebody important who is just gone, maybe dead? maybe just gone. It's an album to be sad to. But in a good way. It's healthy for you. Fuck, you might even dance to parts of blue blood.

It's been a terrible, terrible week. Having this album on repeat has really been the only good part of my week (Besides not seeing otep and iwrestledabearonce - I left and saw Despicable Me instead, it's the best fucking movie ever, I hope everyone sees it at least once.)

Grand is Matt & Kim's second album. They are a funky, upbeat, dance-y duo out of Brooklyn, and this whole album reminds me of summer. You'll find yourself dancing along, nodding your head, and smiling a whole lot wider than you are used to. It's a semi-well known album, but you know what? It's fucking good. It's got some sick beats, a bit of a california whine (my friend compared the vocals to blink 182 - i personally don't see it, but still.) but you'll still absolutely adore this album.

Lydia - Illuminate

I'm in the process of moving all of my music on to a hard drive (I only had 1.1GB left on my laptop... err.) So I don't have time for a proper post. It's going to take me a while - I have so much fucking music to move, AND I'm organizing so it's not just "(2010) maths", "3waysplit", "STREET SMART C Y C L I S T - 2009 EP", "ALBUMS & EPS", and so on. While I love foobar, it makes me so lazy. I can't do that.

I'd stay if I ever could.
This is my favorite album of all time. Literally. Number one. I live by this album, I die by this album, I could sing you the whole thing. I know all the words, all the lyrics, and every song has a memory in it. It's catchy and rocky, with beautiful vocals, and honestly, you'll fall in love with it.

Past Lives - Strange Symmetry (just get this)

I just kinda stumbled upon this band today as I was looking around for some new post-hardcore bands to listen too. I can say that I think I accomplished my goal, cause I found out about Past Lives and downloaded their EP Strange Symmetry.

Anyways, they are a high energy, sometimes pretty, sometimes harsh, post-hardcore band from Seattle, Washington who's sound is fun and refreshing. In comparison, they remind me a lot of the band The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, but instead of crazy horns, they use a keyboard to create catchy little pop riffs that make you smile, while at the same time, bombarding you with sound to create that feel that only post-hardcore gives. It is high energy fun at its best.

I really advise you give this EP a listen. Just refreshing new music that brought a smile to my face.
