Foals - Total Life Forever (repost of a repost)

Foals second album, total life forever, is fucking gorgeous. They have an obsession with the sea, and something probably broke yannis' heart or something, I don't really know, but this whole album is very melancholy, sad, and sort of broken. Beautiful, 10/10 album, very calming, and with wonderful british accents and sad, softly sung beautifully high falsettos. Moving tracks, full of emotion, wonder, and all sorts of things like sorrow and ice. If you want an adventure (a sad one, but with high parts) then get this. It's like mathrock (Antidotes) meets Post-rock (if I had to pick a postrock band for antidotes to have met, dated, fallen in love, and had a baby with, it'd probably be The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, or maybe Far From Refuge). Soft and lovely, with all sorts of pretty sounds that will make you shiver in all the right ways. It's like sitting on the beach when it's fucking freezing and the wind's running through your hair and maybe you get dumped or something. Or you're just having a really bad day. Or you're sitting on said beach remembering your ex or somebody important who is just gone, maybe dead? maybe just gone. It's an album to be sad to. But in a good way. It's healthy for you. Fuck, you might even dance to parts of blue blood.

The Appleseed Cast - Two Conversations

I've got another present for the lovely people who read this blog.

I'm amazed at how alive you are.
This album is beautiful, slow, gentle, heartfelt, honest, and above all else, emotional. Innocent Vigilant Ordinary may have some bad memories attached to it, but it's still my favorite song off this album. The whole album is full of lovely emotions, and there's no better way to listen to it than to lay somewhere, close your eyes, and feel it. I want you to perhaps lay in bed, and just think about your life. This album is the perfect album for reflection, the lyrics are so open and honest, and... kind. The whole album has a gentleness to it, and I've never been good with words, but this album just completely makes up for what it lacks (appleseed cast was at one point a post-rock band, this is an indie rock album) with feeling. It's an emotional roller coaster, a soft, sweet one, and soon enough you'll be screaming out the words to somebody you will always love, and will always be your friend. You'll remember the nights you drank the sun, killed the night, fought the sleep, and won. You'll remember mistakes you've made. You'll remember falling in love, slowly but surely. You'll feel the hopefulness, the regret, the happiness, the love. I want you to feel the songs in the deepness of your bones, heart, and brain.

Lydia - Illuminate

I'm in the process of moving all of my music on to a hard drive (I only had 1.1GB left on my laptop... err.) So I don't have time for a proper post. It's going to take me a while - I have so much fucking music to move, AND I'm organizing so it's not just "(2010) maths", "3waysplit", "STREET SMART C Y C L I S T - 2009 EP", "ALBUMS & EPS", and so on. While I love foobar, it makes me so lazy. I can't do that.

I'd stay if I ever could.
This is my favorite album of all time. Literally. Number one. I live by this album, I die by this album, I could sing you the whole thing. I know all the words, all the lyrics, and every song has a memory in it. It's catchy and rocky, with beautiful vocals, and honestly, you'll fall in love with it.

Julie Doiron - Heart & Crime

When you're in the mood for something soft, something true, and something with a hint of sweet sadness, I've got a treat for you. (And yes, that is the cover art)


Maybe I love you too much...

Full of pianos, soft and unobtrusive female vocals, and lovely strummed guitars, and the occasional harmonica (and horn!) this album is a treat for relaxing. Throw it on in the tub, when you're letting yourself be calm in the water. Throw it on when you can't sleep because you're trying to fix your sleep schedule, but you're too wound up, and need something to calm down to. Throw it on when you wake up in the morning, wake up real slow. She's got a beautiful voice, and I'm not one for female vocals. It's like morphine candy, in the form of an album. You'll relax and feel real good. It's like a female city and color, but with much more slowcore influence. So maybe it's a female bon iver, that might be a better comparison to make. She sings about loving you maybe too much, about things she's done, and about her life, about broken hearts. It's simple, honest, lyrically one of the most beautiful albums I might have in my collection. She has a lovely way of singing anything, and calming it down, making it something real, something lovely.

La Dispute - Somewhere At The Bottom Of The River Between Vega And Altair

This is pretty much my favorite album of all time. The lyrics are just deep enough for you to feel pretentious, after all, the lyricist does have a degree in poetry from some prestigious college that I can't remember, but it's somewhere you could only go to if you drained your entire trust fund, and way laid off the coke.

La Dispute is a beautiful, beautiful band. They sound sort of like mewithoutYou, but they're way more emotional in the lyrics, and they put themselves entirely into their music. It's not quite starbucks approved, because it might be a little too violent in places, but there's other parts that are calm, the calm before the storm. They're basically like you - they could have been 'scene' at one point, but now they're much too 'deep' for that... if you were into 'hardcore' or 'emo' (and not the real kind, either) at any point in time (including now, secretly, when you're home alone and you put on that Emmure record or that fucking local hardcore band's cd), you will adore this. If you're one of those faggots all about the lyrics - you'll adore this. They are a fantastic band, and if you don't have this, you aren't worth a single little penny of your trust fund.
