American Analog Set - From Our Living Room To Yours

We provide the fireworks, you provide the oohs and ahhs

Chilled-out indie rock, sort of post rocky, and very good to be lonely to. It's good study music, background music, music you don't have to listen to so close you can't hear anything else to feel it, but if you do that, you'll be blown away. lots of pretty melodies. tends to drag on, but i like it anyway.

Foals - Antidotes

Cassius, you're second best

This is Foal's first album, and it's a bit dancier in places - I use cassius as an alarm clock to wake the fuck up in the morning, but I can fall asleep to Olympic Airways some of the time. You'll want to dance and sing, it's a little soft, but a little bit dancier than Total Life Forever (which btw the fucking music industry reverted my TLF post back to a draft twice, coooool guys) but you'll know how to sing the words to this too. It's not so cold, a bit less polished, but just as perfect. Depending on the mood, I prefer this to TLF.
Also, I have a stencil of this album, so if you live in Tallahassee and happen to see the man with the mouth on the cover spray painted (link to a shit picture, oh blackberry) somewhere, it was me.

Los Campesinos! - We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed

I HOPE MY HEART GOES FIRST!

Los Campesinos!. 11 days. They made this beautiful fucking piece of art. They don't call it a real CD, just an "EEP". What the fuck ever, this album is their best, in my opinion. Angry, loud, dance-y, and full of welsh kids singing in british accents, with such inventive and personal lyrics you'll be screaming them and not really knowing who they're talking about, but god damn you can RELATE. Pitchfork gave this an 8.3, so I promise I'm not being stupid and just trying to throw a shitty album at you (well I mean if you follow pitchfork I kind of hate you on principal). It's messy, lovely, and it's sort of like when you get angry and you have paints and a canvas and you just throw a shit ton of paint on the canvas and you get something really pretty and awesome, but you're also covered in paint and it's fucking wonderful. Scuffed up, rough around the edges, angsty, love-hating, bitter, and everything you could want in an album to get you pumped on hating everything and loving it. I'm going to steal a genre label from one of my friends in Danananykroyd and call this fight pop. That's what it is. Oh, and there's a mini epic ballad up in there too, for learning how to play on guitar and mumble along, so it appeals to the fucking hipsters out there too.

PS I AM NOT ON THE ALBUM COVER HA HA FUNNY REDHEAD JOKE

Foals - Total Life Forever (repost of a repost)

Forget the horror here
.
Foals second album, total life forever, is fucking gorgeous. They have an obsession with the sea, and something probably broke yannis' heart or something, I don't really know, but this whole album is very melancholy, sad, and sort of broken. Beautiful, 10/10 album, very calming, and with wonderful british accents and sad, softly sung beautifully high falsettos. Moving tracks, full of emotion, wonder, and all sorts of things like sorrow and ice. If you want an adventure (a sad one, but with high parts) then get this. It's like mathrock (Antidotes) meets Post-rock (if I had to pick a postrock band for antidotes to have met, dated, fallen in love, and had a baby with, it'd probably be The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, or maybe Far From Refuge). Soft and lovely, with all sorts of pretty sounds that will make you shiver in all the right ways. It's like sitting on the beach when it's fucking freezing and the wind's running through your hair and maybe you get dumped or something. Or you're just having a really bad day. Or you're sitting on said beach remembering your ex or somebody important who is just gone, maybe dead? maybe just gone. It's an album to be sad to. But in a good way. It's healthy for you. Fuck, you might even dance to parts of blue blood.
preview.

anyway apparently blogspot/DMCA takedown sent this back to draft-land

Something a little different

I'm going to skip posting an album today, and instead, present you with a little bit of a gift.

It's quite nice, and I have all the albums if you'd like any of those songs.

I Was A Cub Scout - I Want You To Know There Is Always Hope

Well, once again, it's fucking early, I'm awake, I'm not sure why, and I have an album I had to fucking post.

Oh, oh, oh, am I in trouble?

Apparently they really were cub scouts, who knew? Also this album name is way too fucking long to type so I'm not going to, but it's a fantastic album. It's poppy, full of electronics, it's got some nice jam bits, songs you will find yourself singing along to, and above all else, it's really, REALLY catchy. It's not exactly the brightest with some of the lyrics, but it's got some feeling. It's sweet synthrock, but with a little bit of a voice you'd rather find in something like this town needs guns. I can't quite place why, but the vocals are a bit out of place, but in a really, really, really good way. You can tell that they put their heart into this, and it's really, really nicely produced. Pink Squares will have you dancing, Save Your Wishes will have you rocking, and you'll find that this album will fit right on in to your summer.

Cold War Kids - Robbers & Cowards

It's so nice out today (or at least it looks it, I'm not stepping foot out into the summer) and I've woken up really early (this is usually bedtime) and I'm in a wonderful mood so I will share this with you and here you go you're welcome

She's laughin' like a choir giiiiirl

Funky, full of pianos, fun beats, whiny but delicious vocals. It's a nice album for just chilling out, for driving around, for singing along with friends, and just basically hangin' out. It's funky, apparently sounds like it could be Maroon 5 (I personally don't see it). Their music is heavily inspired by artists such as Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground and Johnny Segment (Says Last.fm) but I don't really see the Bob, not much at least. Don't expect folk from this album. This is also another one you can sort of judge by the art - it sounds like that. It really does. They havev a sound that almost doesn't fit into this age, for some reason. It's too funky and... it just reminds me of the 60's for some reason. It's got nice lyrics, nicer instruments, and nice vocals. This album is just nice. It's not calm, but it's not the most upbeat thing. I can't figure it out, but I like it. You should too.

The Appleseed Cast - Two Conversations

I've got another present for the lovely people who read this blog.

I'm amazed at how alive you are.

This album is beautiful, slow, gentle, heartfelt, honest, and above all else, emotional. Innocent Vigilant Ordinary may have some bad memories attached to it, but it's still my favorite song off this album. The whole album is full of lovely emotions, and there's no better way to listen to it than to lay somewhere, close your eyes, and feel it. I want you to perhaps lay in bed, and just think about your life. This album is the perfect album for reflection, the lyrics are so open and honest, and... kind. The whole album has a gentleness to it, and I've never been good with words, but this album just completely makes up for what it lacks (appleseed cast was at one point a post-rock band, this is an indie rock album) with feeling. It's an emotional roller coaster, a soft, sweet one, and soon enough you'll be screaming out the words to somebody you will always love, and will always be your friend. You'll remember the nights you drank the sun, killed the night, fought the sleep, and won. You'll remember mistakes you've made. You'll remember falling in love, slowly but surely. You'll feel the hopefulness, the regret, the happiness, the love. I want you to feel the songs in the deepness of your bones, heart, and brain.

Lydia - Illuminate

I'm in the process of moving all of my music on to a hard drive (I only had 1.1GB left on my laptop... err.) So I don't have time for a proper post. It's going to take me a while - I have so much fucking music to move, AND I'm organizing so it's not just "(2010) maths", "3waysplit", "STREET SMART C Y C L I S T - 2009 EP", "ALBUMS & EPS", and so on. While I love foobar, it makes me so lazy. I can't do that.

I'd stay if I ever could.

This is my favorite album of all time. Literally. Number one. I live by this album, I die by this album, I could sing you the whole thing. I know all the words, all the lyrics, and every song has a memory in it. It's catchy and rocky, with beautiful vocals, and honestly, you'll fall in love with it.

Margot & The Nuclear So Sos - Dust Of Retreat

Alright, so I just got home from the hospital, I've been convulsing for nearly 16 hours, I'm exhausted, and I just want to rest. I can't though, 'cause I'm convulsing so hard.

everyone and their mother will wanna get this.

And this album is perfect for that. It's got that radio-rock feel, but it's softer in some parts. It's rocky, perfect, and calming. The guy singing (I'm too lazy and tired to look up his name) has lovely vocals. The lyrics are nice, and overall, the band reminds me a bit of the Dangerous Summer... except there's the occasional funky jazz beat, and unconventional instrument... Like hey, that's a piano, oh wait that's a fucking saxophone. It's like the dangerous summer had a baby with Forgive Durden, and that baby has a fairy grandmother named Dear and The Headlights. Last.fm calls them orchestral pop, and I guess I can kind of see that. It's calming and funky, and I recommend it.

afternoon naps - parade

Jesus christ, this album is way more cutesy pop twee-y than anything you could ever imagine. Imagine if the pains of being pure at heart was actually good and then funkier and sweeter and nicer and oh dear god this whole album is just one giant cute face of d'aw and summer and sweetness. This better be the soundtrack to your summer.

get get it get

Lovely, sleepy, yet sometimes upbeat and fun to almost dance around your artfully decorated room indie pop out of... uhh.. somewhere in Ohio - and Ohio is famous for being awesome (not.) But, it doesn't matter. they've got roughly 6k listeners on last.fm, and are perfect for waking up and enjoying a coffee too while staring out over a warm summer skyline - but before it's too warm, so you can still wear your raggedy old cardigan full of holes and love (even though you bought it that way like last week for 50$) and look like you're deep in thought - really, you can just be enjoying this album. It's like if somebody took that perfect weather inbetween spring and summer and threw it in a blender with upbeat indie and then threw in a sprinking of female dreamy vocals and the a dude to make sure it didn't get too girly. It's like if the XX was happy instead of horny, and had some guitars. Hey, you can listen to this whenever - and not just when you're having sex on a couch. You can put this on a mixtape for a girl - she'll fall in love. I promise. This album will help you bed that cute indie girl who likes shoegaze and indie pop and all those things you ever dreamed of, but you just like post-rock and maybe some indie rock. I promise this will get you laid if you show the right songs to the right girls (and there is a right song for every type of girl.) And dudes? It's a-okay to enjoy this, it's so indie everyone will wow about your cred so much, the music won't even seem girly. (because it's really not.)

bad news

my foobar's broken. no blog post because i'm trying to fix this.

have a godly album, on me.

mediafire

Lydia - This December, It's One More and I'm Free... I'll write some scathingness later on, but for now, take this one as a freebie little gem. Don't judge them based on their second album, Illuminate, because this, being their first, is a bunch different.
S o, no, really, it's on me - gorgeous indie rock with some lovely female vox sometimes thrown in, a delicious male lead, and some pretty acoustics up in there. Take the niceness and go with it.

just download it.

Papermoons - New Tales

I might as well get right into posting music I don't really loathe to the bottom of my soul (and maybe even kind of enjoy sometimes but don't tell anyone). So I present to you Papermoon's New Tales.

Mediafire

It's the kind of album you put on when you want to sit on your front porch on a summer night and smoke a lucky strike (since you're a god damn hipster) or blast when you're rolling through the city and it's really hot out and lazy. Also, it's starbucks approved - the twangy guitars, laid back lyrics, and chilled out drums will make you look like the coolest hipster in Austin, enjoying your six dollar venti iced green tea on a day too hot for even the hippest to be wearing scarves, or even cardigans.
