Hey read my blog so you can download my music. I just recorded this today. It's really noisy screamo. Please enjoy. We had a hard time recording these and singing them because we all suck pretty bad, but hey what'dya gon' do. This Saturday I'm giving this to a guy I know who makes shows and maybe we'll be a "real band". Anyway, this is like 9 minutes long and we're really "fun" guys and this music is a lot of "fun".

"Fun"

ethanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13575698964249554105noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-91627226464181412922010-09-13T02:53:00.004-04:002010-09-13T03:05:43.577-04:00Merchant Ship's Discography
It's 12:58 AM, and I can't sleep.

Not in the regular way, as in, "I'm not tired, I can't sleep." I'm tired as fuck. I wish I would just lay down, but... It's a dead night. There's a painting in my head, and I can't stop thinking it. I want to sleep. I don't have anything to do tomorrow, I want to sleep.

Merchant Ships is a band that broke up in 2009, then got back together. They're really damn good. It's one of those bands I wish I was in. There are a lot of those. It's the perfect music for watching your best friend ruin his life, viewing your girlfriend killing your ambitions, missing friends you know you'll never see again, smoking away the night with new ones, thinking about the only love you've ever wanted, but can't have. It's the teenage condition, and Merchant Ships are the soundtrack.

I have a theory that everything in my life stands for something I feel that I've lost about my childhood. As if I'm trying to gain back innocence and wonder. As if I, somehow, through my actions and words, can travel back in time and spend more afternoons in my backyard digging up rollie pollies. This band is when I would scream. I would scream for hours on end simply to make the noise. Not that I don't still do that, but... I think my escape is working. Wait, not escape. I meant trap.

You Were Perfect
ethanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13575698964249554105noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-3112704858928051732010-09-12T22:01:00.001-04:002010-09-12T22:02:56.969-04:00Like a G6

like a g6 g6 now i'm feeling so fly like a g6

Look, if you don't like this, I don't care. You'll nod your head, you'll dance, you'll move those hips, you'll put your hands on your waistline - there's no more space in the woods, not for anyone else, not with what LOTP has done. This album is just fucking sexy, there's not really any other words for it. It's got a seriously 80's vibe going on, you'll just wanna find some black leggings and vibrant green tank tops, put your hair in a cyan headband, and rock out real sexy-like to this. I swear to god. It's so... awesome. Imagine a synthy-er, sexier MGMT, who is much better at falsettos. If nothing else, Bathroom Gurgle and Space & The Woods will rock your fucking hips. You will jam out to this in your car, you will be okay enough with how 80s it sounds to feel hip and like you're reviving the neon decade in your own two hands. You'll want to dance and sing, it's a little soft, but a little bit dancier than Total Life Forever (which btw the fucking music industry reverted my TLF post back to a draft twice, coooool guys) but you'll know how to sing the words to this too. They made this beautiful fucking piece of art. They don't call it a real CD, just an "EEP". What the fuck ever, this album is their best, in my opinion. Angry, loud, dance-y, and full of welsh kids singing in british accents, with such inventive and personal lyrics you'll be screaming them and not really knowing who they're talking about, but god damn you can RELATE. Pitchfork gave this an 8.3, so I promise I'm not being stupid and just trying to throw a shitty album at you (well I mean if you follow pitchfork I kind of hate you on principal). It's messy, lovely, and it's sort of like when you get angry and you have paints and a canvas and you just throw a shit ton of paint on the canvas and you get something really pretty and awesome, but you're also covered in paint and it's fucking wonderful. Scuffed up, rough around the edges, angsty, love-hating, bitter, and everything you could want in an album to get you pumped on hating everything and loving it. I'm going to steal a genre label from one of my friends in Danananykroyd and call this fight pop. That's what it is. Oh, and there's a mini epic ballad up in there too, for learning how to play on guitar and mumble along, so it appeals to the fucking hipsters out there too.

PS I AM NOT ON THE ALBUM COVER HA HA FUNNY REDHEAD JOKEUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-31353891779307758172010-08-13T12:23:00.004-04:002010-08-13T12:29:58.986-04:00mono - you are there

just download it.
slow, sad, mournful, solemn post-rock from 2006. it's made me cry more than once. it's beautiful. it's perfect for sad days. a bit stereotypical with the crescendos, but it still sounds fucking painfully good. i don't have any more words to sell you this one.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-61061376689671247072010-08-11T13:54:00.000-04:002010-08-11T13:55:45.846-04:00i ain't no hollaback girl?

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-77168051276998797082010-08-09T17:16:00.004-04:002010-08-09T17:23:07.132-04:00The South Park Movie Soundtrack

you are not above this

Don't think too much about it. They have an obsession with the sea, and something probably broke yannis' heart or something, I don't really know, but this whole album is very melancholy, sad, and sort of broken. Beautiful, 10/10 album, very calming, and with wonderful british accents and sad, softly sung beautifully high falsettos. Moving tracks, full of emotion, wonder, and all sorts of things like sorrow and ice. If you want an adventure (a sad one, but with high parts) then get this. It's like mathrock (Antidotes) meets Post-rock (if I had to pick a postrock band for antidotes to have met, dated, fallen in love, and had a baby with, it'd probably be The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, or maybe Far From Refuge). Soft and lovely, with all sorts of pretty sounds that will make you shiver in all the right ways. It's like sitting on the beach when it's fucking freezing and the wind's running through your hair and maybe you get dumped or something. Or you're just having a really bad day. Or you're sitting on said beach remembering your ex or somebody important who is just gone, maybe dead? maybe just gone. It's an album to be sad to. But in a good way. It's healthy for you. Fuck, you might even dance to parts of blue blood.
preview.

anyway apparently blogspot/DMCA takedown sent this back to draft-land

wat

SUCK IT I WILL NOT PUT THIS POST TO RESTUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-39675824050098611872010-08-06T12:12:00.005-04:002010-08-30T22:04:54.380-04:00By Surprise/Hightide Hotel - Split

And I'm just not convinced that this is just coincidence
Hightide Hotel and By Surprise, my two favorite new wave of emo bands, did a split together. This split created my favorite song in the world. This song I know all the words to, I can sing along, I can tap to the beat, I can sing the whole thing on my own and get it right and get the beat and timing right down to the very milisecond. That's how much I love this song. It's called Shuttle. It's the 4th track. By Surprise has some good heartfelt songs too. So does Hightide Hotel, they even have a track called Elementary Biology that I am going to get a line or two from tattooed onto me, it's obviously a very good song. But shuttle makes this split the best thing I've ever heard. You should like it. You'll wanna learn it for that new girl you like who you really wanna get with so you play it on a cheap guitar at a bonfire surrounded by really shitty beer but really awesome people. Hightide Hotel sounds like a rawer Snowing. A bit rougher around the edges. By Surprise sounds like beards.
PS By surprise has a song called CB radio and that song is my JAM.

indiestats:
by surprise 31,427 plays (2,928 listeners)
hightide hotel 76,634 plays (4,613 listeners)
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-62157531767244464592010-08-04T17:20:00.005-04:002010-08-06T12:33:41.045-04:00A Love Like Pi - The Atlas And The Oyster

Oh, this is my body, I can give to you.
ALLP is the catchiest thing you will hear this month. Energy filled, packed with electronic boops and beeps, smushed with dance-y layers of delicious synth bits, and the catchiest, most power-packed vocals to ever happen to "indietronica" (as much as I fucking hate that word). From lyrics about little girls (Oh you're so young, oh you're so young, oh lolita oh lolita) to sympthonic bodies (my body isn't quite a symphony, but if you would put your ears close to me...) to cheating (caught you cleaning up your lovers mess) this album is a fucking trip and a half. You will dance, you will get caught up, you will sing every chorus, and you will do it with wild abandon. I recommend this for jamming out, a+ album, top 10 favorite of mine, and if you don't like it, you have no soul. The 4k listeners on lastfm (but 145k plays) shouldn't exactly hurt your indie cred either.
ps I can steal the upload from Sky because I showed this band to him - hello sky~

indiestats
145,234 plays (4,472 listeners)
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-61688800572819258042010-08-02T17:22:00.006-04:002010-08-02T17:28:46.651-04:00Confide - Recover

I told you that this was coming.
I don't have words anymore but this is a good album and I'm surprised at how it stands up to Shout The Truth. It's got more singing and less god, but I'm still enjoying it upon listening. It's good car music. The screaming is lower pitched, more stereotypical hardcore, I think they stole a couple of breakdowns from other bands, but it works for them. This reminds me of A Day To Remember's For Those Who Have Heart, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. That's about all I've got.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-74435862494910287392010-07-28T21:07:00.001-04:002010-07-28T21:07:20.220-04:00i give upnobody reads this anywayUnknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-26377271862639635432010-07-24T06:51:00.004-04:002010-07-24T06:59:13.132-04:00Versaemerge - Cities Built On Sand
Hold on, hold on. I know what you're thinking - versaemerge? Like that one band with the vocalist like the girl from paramore?
No. I fucking hate Sierra. I miss spencer and anthony and blake. These guys were my friends three years ago, and now the fame has gone to their head because they can put out a fueled by ramen endorsed album. Or whatever the fuck they're on.
Anyway. This isn't the time for me to be bitter.

A different suffix every page of us
This is good post-hardcore, straight out of '07, when post-hardcore was thriving and had fucking wonderful things going for it. MALE VOCALS ONLY (thank god, chicks don't BELONG IN THIS) and it's fucking fantastic. Sounds like if sparks the rescue had a baby with before their eyes - and if you know either of those bands, you really probably don't hate them and want this now. I bet you're drooling a little, this is seriously like a big deal omg before they had a cunt sing for them! Better lyrics, better music, no fake production bullshit. This EP only has like 50 scrobbles on last.fm, too.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-66938841869290429522010-07-21T18:32:00.002-04:002010-07-21T18:33:21.471-04:00Something a little differentI'm going to skip posting an album today, and instead, present you with a little bit of a gift.

It's quite nice, and I have all the albums if you'd like any of those songs.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-85218100166415815582010-07-20T06:22:00.003-04:002010-07-20T06:29:48.029-04:00I Was A Cub Scout - I Want You To Know There Is Always Hope

Well, once again, it's fucking early, I'm awake, I'm not sure why, and I have an album I had to fucking post.

Oh, oh, oh, am I in trouble?
Apparently they really were cub scouts, who knew? Also this album name is way too fucking long to type so I'm not going to, but it's a fantastic album. It's poppy, full of electronics, it's got some nice jam bits, songs you will find yourself singing along to, and above all else, it's really, REALLY catchy. It's not exactly the brightest with some of the lyrics, but it's got some feeling. It's sweet synthrock, but with a little bit of a voice you'd rather find in something like this town needs guns. I can't quite place why, but the vocals are a bit out of place, but in a really, really, really good way. You can tell that they put their heart into this, and it's really, really nicely produced. Pink Squares will have you dancing, Save Your Wishes will have you rocking, and you'll find that this album will fit right on in to your summer.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-33515076386036935112010-07-19T07:34:00.004-04:002010-07-19T07:46:40.528-04:00Cold War Kids - Robbers & Cowards
It's so nice out today (or at least it looks it, I'm not stepping foot out into the summer) and I've woken up really early (this is usually bedtime) and I'm in a wonderful mood so I will share this with you and here you go you're welcome

She's laughin' like a choir giiiiirl
Funky, full of pianos, fun beats, whiny but delicious vocals. It's a nice album for just chilling out, for driving around, for singing along with friends, and just basically hangin' out. It's funky, apparently sounds like it could be Maroon 5 (I personally don't see it). Their music is heavily inspired by artists such as Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground and Johnny Segment (Says Last.fm) but I don't really see the Bob, not much at least. Don't expect folk from this album. This is also another one you can sort of judge by the art - it sounds like that. It really does. They havev a sound that almost doesn't fit into this age, for some reason. It's too funky and... it just reminds me of the 60's for some reason. It's got nice lyrics, nicer instruments, and nice vocals. This album is just nice. It's not calm, but it's not the most upbeat thing. I can't figure it out, but I like it. You should too.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567139585899198624.post-3891588221324576712010-07-18T04:05:00.003-04:002010-07-18T04:11:48.155-04:00Boxcutter - Glyphic
Alright, it's late, I had the worst night of sleep ever last night, I haven't even TRIED for bed tonight, and I'm working on figuring out this blackberry thing (my PIN is 31EC2CE4 for you blackberry readers who want to have a conversation or something) but I digress

Download this right now
Holy god damn this album is one you CAN indeed judge by the art. Look at it! This album is perfect for the things depicted, if you catch where I'm going with this. It's dirty dubstep/ambient/experimental. Perfect for dancing, drinking, staying up all night, relaxing, and just being carefree. It's a summer party soundtrack of sorts. If your friends like filth (and they should).

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
